Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the services provided by Trent Franz (ABN registered, trading as Trent.IT, "Trent", "we", "us") and related engagements. By engaging Trent's services or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Services

Trent provides IT consulting, technical support, web development, and related services. The specific scope of services, deliverables, timeline, and pricing will be agreed in writing (email or formal quote) prior to commencement of any paid engagement.

3. Payment Terms

• Invoices are due within 14 days of issue unless otherwise agreed in writing.
• Hourly work is billed in 30-minute increments, rounded up.
• For project work, a deposit of 30–50% may be required before work commences.
• Late payments may incur a 1.5% per month interest charge after 30 days.
• All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD). Trent is not currently registered for GST.

4. Cancellation & Refunds

Cancellations must be made with at least 24 hours' notice for scheduled appointments. Work already completed and delivered is not refundable. Deposits for project work are non-refundable once work has commenced unless Trent is unable to deliver the agreed scope.

5. Client Responsibilities

• You must ensure Trent has necessary access (physical or remote) to perform agreed services.
• You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data before any technical work.
• You must provide accurate information about your systems and requirements.
• You are responsible for any third-party software licences required for your environment.

6. Limitation of Liability

Trent will exercise reasonable care in providing services. However, to the extent permitted by law, Trent's liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific service that caused the issue. Trent is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, including data loss, business interruption, or loss of revenue. This does not exclude any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.

7. Intellectual Property

For web development engagements, upon receipt of full payment, you will own the deliverables (code, designs, content) created specifically for you. Trent retains the right to use general methodologies, frameworks, and tools used in the creation of those deliverables. Trent may include the work in a portfolio unless you request otherwise in writing.

8. Confidentiality

Trent will keep your business information, system details, and data confidential and will not disclose them to third parties except as required by law or with your consent.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Queensland courts.

10. Changes to These Terms

Trent may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated effective date on this page. Continued use of services constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
